Paying the bill
Here’s where discretion and subtlety are the rule. If you make a show about paying the bill you make your date uncomfortable by generating a feeling of debt or own ness. If you know you’ll be paying you may be able to pre arrange the waiter to present it to you quietly. If you make it quietly disappear you’ll seem like a magician. Never argue about the bill. If your date objects to your paying, you can offer them, the opportunity to leave the tip and you’ll pay the bill, before actually splitting the tab. If they really want to split the tab, by all means split the tab in as smooth and soft a way as possible so you don’t break any good feelings that may be rolling.
Tipping on a date
Remember you are being watched, cheap tip, cheap person, cheap date negative points go to the cheap tipper.. Unless the service was hellish, you should leave 20 percent. That shows you care about others, but are not careless or extravagant with meal money. It can add brownie points to your standing with your date.
